About TBS Engineering
Automation for the Battery Industry
Now part of the International corporation BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC., TBS Engineering Ltd. was founded in 1967 by Thomas B. Stamp in Cheltenham, England, producing automatic machinery for the battery industry. TBS has 3 sites, 2 in Cheltenham, UK and one in Albany, OR, USA.
TBS was awarded the Queens award for Industry in 1990, with over 90% of TBS equipment being exported overseas.
Nearly all the OEM battery suppliers to the major car producers, for example Ford, Honda, VW, BMW and Fiat process their batteries on one or more items of TBS equipment. Most of the medium to large UPS systems in operation around the world, have SLA and VRLA cells in them that have been produced on TBS machinery.
The design process is assisted by customised CAD techniques and uses special knowledge-based software developed at TBS.
TBS is committed to supporting every TBS machine, what ever its location and age. Spares orders can be despatched via airfreight, seafreight or over land as requested.
TBS Engineering Ltd. is pleased to announce that on 5 January 2004, it purchased all the assets of Tekmax Inc. based in Tangent, Oregon, USA.
Tekmax Inc. is the world’s largest provider of battery plate enveloping and automated transfer equipment. We believe that the joining of TBS and Tekmax significantly complements our range of lead acid battery assembly equipment, and will permit us to provide more comprehensive products and services to our customers.
