CAST-ON STRAP MACHINE TYPE COS5

Since this machine was launched, over 300 COS5 machines have been built and installed. Collectively, they produce millions of batteries every year and have made a significant contribution to improving the working conditions of battery assembly personnel around the world.

The COS5 can process 1 automotive battery per cycle or 1 larger truck battery every two cycles, with varying plate thicknesses. Cycle times depend on the size of battery being produced but with all the automatic options installed such as Auto-Lug align and Auto-Unload and Case-out, a production rate of up to 3 batteries per minute can be achieved.

Standard Features

  • Rotary action with 4 workstations: Load - Lug Preparation - Cast-on - Unload
  • Lug Brushing / Fluxing. The automatic brushing and fluxing station ensures that the plate lugs are clean and free from oxides.
  • PLC Step Control, with robust user interface for settings, diagnostics and management statistics.
  • Patented free-flow mould with dual speed pour control. Each mould is designed with balanced lead flow to the cavities for optimum cast-on quality.
  • 2 Zone mould temperature control can be upgraded to 4 zone for complex top lead designs, with contol of the 2 feedpipes fitted as standard.
  • Themostatically controlled gas or electric lead pot. Lead is delivered at the precise temperature required for cast-on.
  • The standard fume extraction system removes hazardous particles from the processing area and may be upgraded to meet different health and safety regulations worldwide.
  • Rotary Lead Pump - type RP2 uses an impeller system to pump molten lead from the lead pot to the mould. Filling speed is accurately controlled from the operator interface and a lead level datum is maintained for each filling operation to ensure repeatable operation. Electric heating elements and temperature control are incorporated into the pump assembly to minimise oxide build-up.
  • Rapid changeover times have always been an important feature of TBS equipment. A complete battery type change can be carried out within 30 minutes.
