CAST-ON STRAP MACHINE TYPE COS8

Available in versions to process automotive or standby batteries, the COS8 is the most flexible cast-on strap machine in the TBS range. Only one supervisor is required during production but advanced process control and refined cast-on technology ensures consistent quality as well as high output.

Standard COS8 Features:

  • The following operations are fully automatic: Group loading, lug preparation and alignment, cast-on and unload.
  • Output - up to 4 batteries per minute.
  • Rapid Battery Type change - typically 20 minutes.
  • Automatic group loading directly from an enveloper or for greater productivity, an optional buffer stock.
  • Automatic lug alignment.
  • Automatic unload and case-out completes the cycle ready for further assembly processes.
  • Step control with machine diagnostics and management reporting.
  • Lug Brushing / Fluxing removes unwanted oxides. All brushing systems wear evenly and are simple to replace.
  • Patented quick-release mould with 2 stage variable lead flow rate and 4 zone temperature control.
  • Thermostatically controlled gas or electric lead pot. Lead is delivered at the optimum temperature for cast-on.
  • Mould pre-heat station complete with duplicate temperature control and water cooling systems.
  • Particle and fume extraction for a cleaner working environment.
  • Sprue brushing ensures flash-free straps.

Group Handling

Automatic group handling removes the need for operators to handle tonnes of lead plates per shift. The grippers rotate certain groups to ensure correct battery build layout, especially as cast-on conditions are optimised by having positive straps on one side of the mould and negative on the other.
